Ofc. Feeley and K-9 “Yudy”

Ofc. Feeley has been a Glendale Police Officer since September of 1993. During that time, Ofc. Feeley worked several details throughout the department. In 1997, she was selected to work in the department’s gang enforcement unit. In 1998, she moved to the department’s robbery/homicide detail, where she worked as in an investigator on robbery, terrorist threats, attempt murder, and murder cases. In 2001, she was selected to work as a member of the department’s vice/narcotics detail, where she conducted numerous undercover operations, surveillance and high-risk search warrants for known drug dealers. During her tenure as an officer, she was also a member of the department’s SWAT team. In September of 2005, Ofc. Feeley was selected for the position of K-9 handler, where she was first introduced to her new partner, K-9 “Yudy”.

K-9 Yudy is a female German shepherd who was born in Germany on April 5, 2004. She came to the United States at 17 months of age to begin her official police dog training with Ofc. Feeley. Both Yudy and Ofc. Feeley attended a four week basic patrol school beginning September, 2005. Once they graduated, they were certified to find and apprehend fleeing or hidden suspects, as well as lost individuals. In May of 2006, they attended a three week class for narcotics detection. After the three weeks, Yudy was certified in the detection of (6) narcotics. Yudy has also been certified as a hard surface tracking K-9. In 2006, Yudy and Ofc. Feeley competed in the Ventura County K-9 Trials where they won a 4th place award in the Overall Novice Division. In mid-2006, Yudy made Glendale history by finding twelve pounds of opium hidden inside a vehicle during a traffic stop. That was the largest opium seizure in the history of the Glendale Police Department. She has since seized numerous items of narcotics; over $70,000 in U.S. currency from various individuals involved in drug activity, and has located several fleeing suspects without incident.
