Meet the K9s
Robert Wynkoop and K-9 “Marlin”
Officer Robert Wynkoop has been a police officer with the Glendale Police Department for over 10 years as a full time officer and 2 years as a reserve police officer. He attended the Rio Hondo Police academy in 1997 and was sworn in as a police officer in May of 1997. During his career with the Glendale Police Department he has worked a variety of assignments. He has worked in patrol, as a school resource officer, traffic as a motorcycle officer, and now currently working as a K-9 handler.
Officer Robert Wynkoop was accepted as a K-9 handler in March 2006. He was first introduced to Marlin, a 15 month old German Shepherd, on March 24th 2006. Together they attended a 4-week patrol school, a 3-week drug detection school, and a 3-week hard surface tracking school. Officer Wynkoop and Marlin are currently working patrol and are used daily for searches of suspects, missing persons, and drugs. Officer Wynkoop and Marlin attended the Redondo Police K-9 trials on May 11th and 12th. Marlin was awarded 3rd place for narcotics detection of buildings and 2nd place overall in the novice category, a great accomplishment for a new K-9 team. Marlin is the youngest of the canines and loves being the puppy of the group. Marlin looks forward to many years of serving the community of Glendale.
